Dr. Sharon Mitchell
Dr. Sharon Mitchell, PhD, MPH, CDS, is a recognized sexual health expert and educator, regularly interviewed by newspapers, periodicals, and television and radio shows, including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, Newsweek, CNN, 20/20, NPR, MTV, and KROQ.In 1998 there was an HIV outbreak in the Adult Entertainment Industry. The Adult Industry gave Dr. Mitchell the support that she needed to found the AIM Healthcare Foundation (AIM). AIM is the premier nonprofit organization serving industry talent and sex workers in areas of STD and HIV testing, counseling, and treatment. AIM has been entrusted by the Adult Industry and the United States Public Health Authorities with the responsiblity of managing the risk of STD/STI infection in these high risk populations. Dr. Mitchell has been recognized for her ground breaking work by many organizations, including OSHA, Lancet, and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
Dr. Mitchell frequently lectures at colleges, including UCLA and UCSF, along with speaking engagements with Public Health Professionals, and Government Agencies (OSHA). Dr. Mitchell will be featured as a therapist on the upcoming "Celebrity Rehab" series with Dr. Drew Pinsky which will air on VH1. She also writes a regular column "Ask Dr. Mitch" which can be found in AVN, Stiletto, and Frontier magazines, as well as on the AIM and SxCheck.com web sites.
Dr. Mitchell is currently focused on bringing her services to the general public through SxCheck.com. SxCheck is available across the United States, and is growing globally.
